How to get the best out of ultrasound scanning:

  • Make sure lambs are well grown and the right age at scanning time
  • Calibrate your weighing scales before scanning
  • All lambs should be presented for scanning, only late born or unhealthy lambs should be excluded
  • Do not just scan the best lambs
  • Do not shear lambs prior to scanning
  • In large flocks prioritise the scanning of lambs retained for breeding
