Our mini-series continues this week by discussing a topic concerning ‘man’s best friend’ – the dog. A common ailment afflicting the older members of the canine generation is a condition called Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH). To better understand this condition we need to be familiar with the role and function of the prostate itself.

It has been said that the key to a good outfit is in the ‘extras’ – bags, jewellery, shoes etc… The same can also be indirectly applied to veterinary ultrasound, and whether you are an experienced scanner or just starting out on your ultrasound journey it is important to think carefully about everything you may need.

CATTLE SCAN COURSE: 4TH APRIL 2016

Our next DEFRA-approved cattle scan course is scheduled for the 4th of April in Gloucestershire. Places are limited and going fast, so please call us on 0208 432 9802 or book online here if you are interested in attending.

This 4-day course includes three half-day practical scanning sessions, and five classroom sessions, covering the reproductive anatomy of the cow and the oestrous cycle (assessing the ovaries an uterus), stages of pregnancy, basic ultrasound physics, equipment operation and hygiene, and paraprofessionals and the law. Completion of this course grants you DEFRA exemption, meaning you are legally permitted to carry our internal pregnancy scans on cattle.

Our final cattle course of the year was held at Harper Adams University in Shropshire, featuring the BreederTec Cow Scanner. This 4-day course enabled our students to obtain DEFRA exemption, allowing them to legally perform pregnancy scans on cattle.
